Article: How to Make the Most of The National Wedding Show This Weekend

How to Make the Most of The National Wedding Show This Weekend

How to Make the Most of The National Wedding Show This Weekend

Whether you’re newly engaged or well into the planning process, The National Wedding Show is one of the most exciting, and sometimes slightly overwhelming, moments in your wedding planning journey. Hundreds of suppliers. Thousands of ideas. One giant expo hall. And just one day (or weekend) to take it all in.

So how do you make the most of it?

We’ve pulled together our top tips for navigating the show like a seasoned bride, from what to bring to who to visit (The Bridal Edition!). Whether you’re going with your best friend, your fiancé, or flying solo, here’s how to make the day count.

1. Start With a Loose Game Plan

Take a look at the show guide before you arrive and highlight any must-visits. Are you still venue hunting? Looking for a photographer? Browsing bridal fashion? Prioritise what matters most, but don’t over plan. Some of the best discoveries happen when you’re just wandering.

2. Bring Your Style Wingperson

Whether it’s your mum, sister, or maid of honour, bring someone who knows your vibe and can give honest, hype-girl energy. The day flies by, and it’s always more fun with someone who’ll grab a glass of fizz with you between stands.

3. Wear Comfortable Shoes

You’ll be on your feet for most of the day. Opt for something that will keep you comfortable and confident all day long. We love a heel (you’ll spot some favourites at our stand), but maybe save your tallest stilettos for the aisle.

4. Bring Colour Swatches

If you already have a colour scheme or fabric palette in mind, bring small swatches with you. They are a game-changer when you’re chatting to florists, stationery designers, cake makers or décor suppliers. You’ll instantly be able to match or rule things out.

5. Talk to Suppliers, Not Just Their Stands

It’s tempting to scan and go, but a quick conversation can tell you so much more than a brochure ever could. Ask questions, start chats, and get a feel for who you might want to work with. Most brides say they just knew when a supplier was the right fit, and it often starts with one great conversation.

6. Think About Your Journey In (and Out)

Excel London is best accessed by public transport, with fast links via the Elizabeth line, DLR and London Underground. Not only is it easier (trust us: parking is limited and expensive), but it’s also a simple way to cut back on emissions and start your day with a calmer mindset. You can even start wedding planning en-route.

Also, bring a water bottle. Excel has refill stations throughout the venue, and staying hydrated will make a bigger difference than you think.

7. Take It All In (and Take Breaks)

The show is full of inspiration, but it can also be a sensory overload. Take photos of things you love, from dresses and signage to supplier details. Use your phone’s notes app to jot down prices, names, or quick thoughts. Stop for coffee. Sit down for lunch. Make space to actually process what you’re seeing.

This is part of your wedding story, so give yourself permission to slow down and enjoy it.
